Kingdom of Henry Christophe
A history-based literacy and numeracy curriculum exploring:
- The Haitian Kingdom (1807–1820) and its legacy
- Nationhood, citizenship, geography, and civic identity
- Creative projects: building your own kingdom, designing flags, analysing primary sources like the 1811 Edict
Target Group & Outcomes
We primarily serve racially minoritised youth aged 10–16 across Leeds and West Yorkshire. Outcomes include:
- Increased cultural pride and historical knowledge
- Improved confidence and self-expression
- Enhanced intercultural literacy and critical thinking
- Strengthened engagement in school and community
